I actually wrote this to the teacher. Let me say that the principal was not amused but I felt venerated.
My daughter was in fourth grade and as winter was coming on needed snow boots. We had very little money and I had less time than money much less a very picky fashion plate for a daughter. She never got to go outside for recess anyhow as she always had to stay in to do homework that she couldn't get done in school due to a learning challenge BUT school rules said she had to have some boots. So we took off to the nearest town where we could buy boots right after school- about 50 miles away. We got home about 11:30 that night, the mound of school work untouched! I sent her to bed and with a crayon that I could find wrote this note:
Dear Mrs. Anderson:
Please allow my daughter, (Susie) to stay in from recess today. We were out late last night trying to find a pair of boots and she was not able to do any homework.
